TAMOSHI (MANGROVE JACK) A HUNTED FISH

TAMOSHI (MANGROVE JACK) are lighting fast strikers and having  strong and violent runs providing fisherman with ultimate fishing challenge. This fish can grow up to 10kg but are mostly caught from 1 to 4 kg . This fish is mostly found in rocky and bushy areas of the river and mainly caught by live or dead baits or lures. They are considered to an excellent food fish. They have canine teeth's which helps them catch their prays easily.
My first MANGROVE JACK caught was 1kg and my biggest JACK caught was about 3 kg . For fisherman knowing that the MANGROVE JACK is on your hook is known by it's runs for cover after bait is been taken by the fish. U have to put lots of effort for a big fish if it is hooked to your bait as they struggle lot to hide and cover between the rocks and bushies and it very difficult to pull out the fish once it is runs under the rocks. While chasing with MANGROVE JACK you have to use strong line, reels and lures. Casualness while catching this fish can not help to pull out the fish off the water. For me the best time fishing for a MANGROVE JACK is at night mostly while the exact at the change in tides because at that time the water get stable and help fish to catch their pray easily. The MANGROVE JACK can be caught by live shrimps or mullet or even a dead baits also.
